The Wonder of Gaming

Hey Everyone, Thanks for checking out my page. A couple of years ago, I bought a 400 in 1 cheap retro handheld full of Famicom/NES titles. I had played video games throughout my life, but this sparked a new curiosity in learning about the older systems and games. As I have lots of anxiety at times, these games are really good for my brain. Each are straightforward and easy to learn how to play without guides or instructions. They usually involve just 2 buttons. There are clear goals. Basically, it has everything you need to get into a flow state.

Sadly, I don't have the time these days to play much, so I thought I would create this blog as a hobby for me personally. It keeps me from worrying about views or algorithms on other sites. I just want to learn more and document what I have learned. Maybe you will enjoy some of what I find!

Open Worlds

Another fascination I have had lately is with open world retro games. Again, I am an amateur, so you won't hear about me "beating" many games or anything like that. I have changed into playing more for the experience over anything. Some games I have been exploring lately are Shenmue for the Dreamcast and GTA Vice City for the PS2. Shenmue causes you to slow down and can be meditative in a way. Vice City, on the other hand, can be stimulating, but I also find it much less overwhelming than the newer titles in the series. The music and vibe are something else. You can enjoy the music even if you fail the missions.
YouTube
I started the YouTube channel below. Feel free to check it out. I may consider doing more with it, but I felt like moving here as the main focus instead.
